Former Police Chief Sentenced To Ten Years For Conspiracy To Distribute 2,200 Pounds Of Marijuana
Former Police Chief Hernan Guerra pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than 2,200 pounds of
marijuana. He admitted, while acting as police chief, he assisted
drug traffickers by giving them information where U.S. Border Patrol Units were going to be located. In addition, he would often order his officers to be moved away from certain areas so drug traffickers could move drugs through a certain area.
Seven other men pleaded guilty to related charges, as well. Drug trafficking is a major epidemic in this country. As such, Texas prosecutors aggressively prosecute these crimes. In this case, the former police chief was sentenced to federal prison.
