Marijuana 'Dispensary' at UNT?

During a recent Habitat-For-Humanity fundraiser, some members of the National Organization for Reform of Marijuana Laws (a.k.a. NORML) set up a little shanty to promote the benefits of cannabis. The purpose of the shanty was to assist educating North Texans about marijuana and to point out that "[m]arijuana has been proven, after all, to be a safer alliterative to alcohol."

Apparently, UNT has a school policy that first-time possession of marijuana is given the same punishment as first-time possession of alcohol. That appears rather generous when one compares what the State of Texas will charge you with for possession of marijuana (assuming it is a small amount). In Texas, the first offense for possession of marijuana is a Class B Misdemeanor that will be punishable with a maximum sentence of 180 days in county jail.

That is not all, the consequences of having a marijuana conviction on your record will follow you for the rest of your life. If you have been charged with possession of marijuana, you need to contact a Plano drug crimes lawyer today.
