Teen Substance Abuse On The Rise
After a decade of relatively steady declines, teen substance abuse has increased, a recent survey revealed. A study recently released, stated that marijuana and
ecstasy use have increased in use by teens the last two years. In fact, 39 percent of teens stated that they use marijuana (an increase of 32 percent) and 10 percent of teensstated that they used ecstasy (an increase from six percent).
The report noted that many of the teens stated that they use drugs and alcohol to deal with stress. Correspondingly, 45 percent of those teens surveyed stated that they do not see a "great risk" in heavy daily drinking.
As there continues to be an increase in the number of drug use, there is also an increase in the tenacity in which the local prosecution offices attack underage drug use. If your teenager has been charged with a drug offense, our attorney have years of experience dealing with drug crimes.
