Traffic Stop In East Texas Nets 100 Pounds Of Marijuana

Jhovony Chacon was arrested in Titus County for Possession of Marijuana over 50 pounds to 200 pounds. A Texas DPS Trooper stopped Chacon's 1999 Ford Expedition near Mount Pleasant, Texas for a simple traffic violation. 

Though he had 102 pounds of marijuana in his SUV, he consented to a search of the car. During the search the police officers found the large amount of marijuana in a "false compartment" in the roof of the automobile. Click here for a picture of the seizure.  

Apparently, this was worth approximately $102,000 street value. Obviously, he is going to be charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute. This is a second degree felony that can have a range of punishment from 2 to 20 years in Texas prison.
