17 Students Arrested on Drug Charges at Texas Christian University
Today 17 students were arrested and removed from the TCU campus as a result of a six month drug investigation conducted by the Fort Worth Police Department with assistance from TCU Campus Police. Four of the students arrested are TCU football players, namely Tanner Brock (view arrest warrant), Devin Johnson, D.J. Yendrey and Tyler Horn.
Though 17 were arrested today, the investigation is ongoing and could result in further arrests. Steven McGee, the TCU Campus Police Chief, indicated that all of the students arrested today were involved in drug distribution, as evidenced by their interaction with undercover officers.
Reported drugs involved include marijuana,
cocaine,
ecstasy,
heroin, LSD and
prescription drugs.
According to a statement posted on the TCU website, this is the largest number of student arrests in drug-related activities in the school's history.
News sources have indicated that the students will most likely be tried in the state court, rather than federal. State drug charges are still extremely serious and can result in jail or prison time.
